OMS carries over 10,000 medical products and ensures that all high-volume clinical products are kept in stock so we are able to deliver to any part of Ontario within two business days – most locations are next day.

OMS is the only Canadian distributor that offers medical equipment, clinical supplies and pharmaceutical products and is a licensed wholesaler of pharmaceuticals.

Through our specialty pharmacy services division, we partner with healthcare providers to manage their patients’ complex specialty medication regimes, supporting their practices with high-touch services for patient support. OMS also operates three retail pharmacies in Ontario, two of which are located in The Ottawa Hospital (Civic and General Campuses), and one in Windsor.

Yves Portelance
Yves leads the OMS team and the homecare division at Medical Pharmacies Group Limited, with the goal of increasing the reach and maximizing efficiencies and profitability for the organization. With over 25 years of experience, Yves is a senior leader with a solid track record of bringing businesses to scale and market leadership, focusing on integrating vision and strategy with performance management. Prior to OMS, Yves led the acute care and technology solutions business at Cardinal Health, and was responsible for the integrated healthcare solutions business at McKesson Canada.

Terry Hodge
Terry runs the Specialty line of business, leading a fully integrated marketing and business development strategy team that delivers innovative healthcare solutions and optimal customer experiences. Her more than 20 years spent in the pharmaceutical industry in progressively senior sales and marketing roles has allowed her to gain a wealth of expertise and knowledge of the healthcare landscape. Terry always puts the customer first. She is passionate about integrating pharmacy in the circle of care to optimize the patient journey through strong cross functional collaboration, and by leading a highly engaged team to maximize results.

Ross Kearns
Mr. Kearns has overall business responsibility for infusion services at Ontario Medical Supply, overseeing pharmacy sites in Ottawa, Kingston and Mississauga, including accountability over the customer service and clinical support functions. Ross is a highly qualified executive with more than 25 years of cross-functional financial, administrative and operational management experience primarily at the senior management level. He is a results-oriented leader with demonstrated excellence in proactively identifying and resolving problems in a rapidly changing environment. A professional accountant by training, Ross adds financial acumen to the diverse OMS management team.

Scott Valois
Scott runs homecare and retail medical products store operations for OMS, and oversees purchasing and inventory for the organization. For over 11 years Scott Valois has led warehouse and delivery operations and business development in logistics and distribution, information security, and in his own entrepreneurial venture. He brings high energy and passion to the leadership team and has demonstrated success forming and maintaining relationships, seeking and penetrating a diverse client base and closing deals.

Dawn Morris
Dawn is a business-oriented professional with more than 20 years of progressive experience in sales management, marketing and project management within medical supply and pharmaceutical industries. Dawn has led high-performance teams of varying sizes and brings strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with proven abilities in strategic planning. At OMS, Dawn takes a customer-focused approach to implementing innovative ideas and guides decisions that support corporate goals.

Ian Kabetu
Ian Kabetu is a regulatory/quality executive with 20+ years’ experience working in the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology and medical device sectors, both as an employee and consultant. He has in-depth knowledge on all aspects of drug development, quality systems and regulatory project management across Canada, the US, EU and Asia. Ian focuses on quality and compliance at OMS, with a high attention to detail and a proven track record of delivering on time. As a supportive leader, he has successfully built high-performance regulatory/quality teams and fostered key relationships with internal clients, customers, partners, vendors and with regulatory agencies and industry groups.

Our History

Ontario Medical Supply (OMS) facility in 1974

1974

Ontario Medical Supply (OMS) started as a local, three-person medical supply business in the Ottawa region. In 1974, the Desjardins Healthcare Group (DHG), a regional provider of pharmaceuticals and healthcare products and services founded in the 1920s, expanded with the purchase of OMS.

1993

In 1993, OMS moved its head office, warehousing and distribution facilities to a new location, but after time OMS had significantly outgrown this 12,000 SF facility and in 2007, the company moved into their new 50,000 SF facility, including a 5,000 SF medical products showroom, located at 1100 Algoma Road, Ottawa, where it remains today.

2013

In 2013, Medical Pharmacies Group Limited (MPGL), a leading provider of pharmacy services to the continuing care sector, acquired the Desjardins Healthcare Group, which included a specialty pharmacy providing home infusion therapy, parenteral nutrition, and OMS. The newly merged organization offered the most comprehensive suite of pharmacy services and medical products available in Canada, bringing innovative and cost-effective healthcare solutions to the group’s many clients.
Today OMS continues to operate from its head office in Ottawa, and is growing and expanding its services across Ontario and parts of Quebec.

There’s no place like home, and a healthcare challenge shouldn’t stop one from enjoying it. Ontario Medical Supply supports clients to not only live, but thrive at home. We provide products and health services to Home and Community Care Support Services (formerly LHIN; formerly CCAC), home care agencies and providers as well as direct to clients, to keep them at home comfortably, for as long as possible.
